A Blackout simulation puts Troll Shadow Priests ahead, but only inside its own rules

A 28 October player simulation reports 10,000 fights per matchup and more expected Blackout stuns for Troll and Undead Shadow Priests than Human. Its proc rules and racial assumptions are stated, but the model is unreproduced and untested in a client.

Prompted by the late-October racial changes, Reddit user u/kluhch posted a simulation on 28 October comparing how often a level 60 Shadow Priest's Blackout talent stuns an enemy when the priest is a Human, Undead or Troll. The author reports 10,000 simulated fights per matchup, with Human as the control because, in their words, none of its priest racials can trigger Blackout. The stated rules: Blackout at 5/5 is a 10% chance per roll for a 3-second stun, with 96% spell hit. Shadow Word: Pain and Devouring Plague roll only when applied, not on each tick, and Mind Flay rolls once per cast. Trolls start with Shadowguard up, three charges and a 3.5-second lockout per attacker; Undead get Touch of the Grave at 30% on spells with a 15-second cooldown.

Inside that model, the author's table gives 2.89 expected stuns in 60 seconds for a Human facing a Rogue and a Warrior together, 3.29 for Undead and 5.20 for Troll. Their reading is that Blackout is limited by the global cooldown, so Shadowguard's charges buy extra rolls for one cast, and that only the Troll racial scales with more attackers. Those are outputs of the author's assumptions, not measured fights. No code or seed accompanies the post, we have not reproduced the run, and the proc rules, cooldowns and enemy behavior it depends on haven't been checked in a current client. The author's accompanying video promises more; we read only its title, description and chapter list, not its audio.
