Classic or Enhanced? The six defaults Forever’s first-login preset sets
Blizzard’s 28 October starter guide says your first Forever login asks you to pick a Classic or Enhanced preset before your Ruleset. The two differ in six starting settings, each changeable later in Options. Separately, SD Skyborne remain planned for early 2027.

The first time you log in to World of Warcraft: Forever, the game asks you to Choose Your Experience Preset: Classic or Enhanced. You make that choice before you pick a Ruleset. Blizzard spelled out what each preset does in its New Player’s Starter Guide, published on 28 October. This piece reports that written guide; we have not tried the screen in the client.
Six defaults, side by side
Blizzard describes Classic as a more traditional presentation, with simpler visuals and less automatic guidance. Enhanced has higher visual fidelity and more interface features switched on. The guide lists six starting settings for each:
| Setting | Classic | Enhanced |
|---|---|---|
| Character models | Standard Definition (SD) | High Definition (HD) |
| Quest points of interest and objective blobs | Off | On |
| One-bag | Off | On |
| Transmog | Off | On |
| Keyboard movement binds | Camera turning | Strafe |
| Screen UI layout | Classic | Centralized |
A starting point, not a lock
In Blizzard’s words, the preset is “a convenient starting point rather than locking in your choices.” You can change its individual settings later under Game Menu > Options, so the table shows where you begin, not what you are stuck with. The choice screen itself does not come back: after your first login, the guide says, you will no longer see it. If you can’t decide, Blizzard’s advice is to start with Enhanced.
Skyborne are still the exception on models
The SD default does not change Blizzard’s separate plan for the new race. Its 7 October post says SD Skyborne player characters are in development for early 2027, as we covered earlier. The starter guide does not say how the Classic preset shows Skyborne before then.
