Rogue players disagree over what the class should feel like: upkeep, poisons or Backstab

One veteran Rogue says the problem is gameplay, not damage: maintenance finishers, poison charges and slow pacing. Another wants the Backstab and Ambush burst style back as a choice alongside poisons and bleeds, and a third player defends poisons as the heart of the class.

A long-time Rogue player opened a 27 October EU forum thread with a deliberately blunt title, but an argument that is narrower than it sounds. TopperHarley says the complaint is not about damage numbers, which "can be tweaked", but about how the class plays. Their examples: an Assassination capstone that is another finisher to keep refreshed, poisons that still run out of charges mid-fight, and a slow pace that sits badly with a class meant to feel fast and agile. In PvP, they add, stealth still feels slow while other classes gained movement tools. In a 28 October follow-up, they conceded a point about how energy regenerates and ended with four requests: turn the Venom capstone into a real button or fold it into another ability, remove poison charges, tie combo points to the player instead of the target, and give each tree a way to get energy back.

A separate 28 October thread pulls in a different direction. Dirt writes that Rogue is being pushed toward poisons and bleeds, and asks for the classic Backstab and Ambush style instead: more direct damage, Shadowstep as Subtlety's 31-point talent, and the original energy-tick system back. Less than two hours later, another player replied that bleeds and poisons are the quintessential Rogue: "slash them a dozen times and let them bleed out." Dirt then clarified that poisons and bleeds don't have to be removed; they want a choice between big direct burst and damage over time.

So the disagreement is not only about strength. It is about what a Rogue's signature actions should be. All of these are player preferences; none describes an announced change, and we have not checked the posters' energy or damage arithmetic.
