Two addon lists for launch, and the question both are asking

One player's long list and one creator's short one both try to keep Forever feeling like itself. They name quest hints, journals, DialogKey and Baganator, warn against heavy overhauls, and report a beta quirk with the voiced-quest addon Spoken.

Chrischi91 knows what they don't want from addons. "One thing I personally don't want is to turn Forever into another min-max simulator where half the game is basically spreadsheets telling me exactly what to do next," they wrote on r/wowforever on 29 October, introducing a "small" list that runs to 34 links, and admitting that calling it small "is becoming increasingly dishonest".

The list shows what that line looks like in practice. Forever Quest Pins gets a place because it "gives me a hint that something is there without turning the entire game into a guided leveling route". Others keep a record instead of giving directions: BiS Memories screenshots level-ups and deaths for "an actual little photo album", and Road To Sixty traces the path your character took. Chrischi91 knows a few of them overlap, and plans to drop whatever turns out to be redundant after the first few weeks. The goal, in their words: "Just… WoW with slightly fewer annoying little things."

A much shorter list

On 30 October, Bellular's You Only Need a Few Addons for WoW Forever went the other way, with a short list and a warning. AI coding tools mean there are many more addons to choose from, the video argues, so players should now favour addons that will be reliably updated and safe over one-and-done projects.

Its strongest recommendation is also its smallest. DialogKey, the video says at 3:40, lets you confirm those okay and yes prompts with the spacebar or another key, and pick an NPC's options by number. It comes back at the end: "Please install" it, for the "smallest dose to greatest benefit". Another practical pick is Baganator at 10:52, which the video describes as sorting bags into categories, with keyword groups such as potions, and storing what's in your bank and on your alts locally so you can check without relogging.

It's also a list of what to skip. Ellesmere UI gets real praise, but the presenter says that even with a Forever-style skin it isn't enough for them to use, and tells viewers at 10:22 not to "feel pressured to install this just because it has some upgrades". Blizzard's textures and flavour, the argument goes, are worth thinking twice about replacing.

Voices for the quest text

Spoken appears on Chrischi91's list too, and it was the answer when a player asked about voiceover addons on 28 October. WitchedPixels recommended pairing it with DialogueUI. Aradia205 said it "seemed to work well in beta" and that the voices had a lot of character, but saw wrong-gendered voices on some civilians in the Skyborne zone, possibly, they guessed, because those characters share dialogue across models. WitchedPixels also says Spoken uses AI, which was enough for Specific_Frame8537: if the voice actors didn't consent, they would rather not use it.

We haven't installed or tested any of these. What's above is what players and one creator say about them from beta, and none of it guarantees an addon will work on 4 November. Still, both lists are asking versions of one question: what earns a place on your screen without changing how Forever feels?
