Fast HoTs, a reason to cast, or room to dispel: what the Resto Druid argument is really about
A long EU thread and Reddit replies show players split: some mourn the speed of applying HoTs, another does not mind reasons to cast, one wants room for dispels, and a reply to a Swiftmend suggestion asks whether losing Bloom is the price of an emergency heal rather than a penalty.

"You killed Resto druid again im done," Dracheal titled their EU forum thread on 31 October. It passed 170 posts in under two days. The anger is about changes players were reading from datamined talents: as they describe it, the shorter global cooldown on some HoTs is gone, Wild Growth now has a cast time, and a talent called Bloom heals a target when Rejuvenation or Regrowth expires. None of that is checked here against a client. What's worth reading is how differently players want the spec to feel.
Fluidity, or a healing rhythm
For some, speed was the identity. Hazelnot says getting HoTs out faster, through Gift of the Earthmother, was what set the healer apart, and that a heal arriving as a HoT expires asks them to predict damage 15 seconds ahead, likely landing on people already at full health. They'd accept a nerf to the old talent rather than losing it. Dragetrap agrees on the feel: "they killed the fluidity not our healing." And they mean it: "I do not want these changes even if they technically make us stronger."
Others came at it from what the spec should do between HoTs. Rahaith says they hate Wild Growth: "its just an AoE HoT". They'd rather have a heal that works with HoTs already running, such as Nourish, or something like Flourish that makes them tick faster. Uncynical_Diogenes doesn't mind "getting some actual reasons to cast spells that aren't instant as resto", because it keeps the "rotation fresh instead of only waiting on GCDs".
The same split runs through the EU thread. Shíeld asked why a heal spread over several seconds should carry a long cast. Pristela took the other side: having it instant was out of place, and the Druid identity, healing over time, has not changed.
What about the people dispelling you?
Potatomilk argues from the other side of the fight. A Druid who can spread HoTs across a group faster than opponents can dispel them leaves no real answer, they say, and a smaller heal on dispel is "far preferable to being outclassed 5 HoTs to 1 dispel/purge". Their math is their own, and so is the conclusion that this is why Druids were nerfed. But it's a reminder that the speed Hazelnot and Dragetrap miss looks different from the opposing team.
The Swiftmend question
Frequent-Channel3408's Reddit suggestion starts from tooltip text they quote, which we haven't checked. As they read it, Swiftmend consumes the HoT, so using it would cost both the HoT's extra time and its final Bloom, "a weird negative synergy". Their fix is to count Swiftmend as dispelling the HoT, so the target gets the smaller payoff; the full Bloom on top, they accept, would be too much.
Three minutes later TarOskin asked whether that cost is the point: Swiftmend as emergency healing, paid for by losing the HoT and its efficient healing. Frequent-Channel3408 replied that Swiftmend is not a cheap spell to begin with and that losing both punishes it too hard.
These are players arguing over what they've read, before anyone has healed a raid at launch. No Blizzard reply appears in the posts cited here, and nothing above is a confirmed mechanic. What they're really disagreeing about is whether a Resto Druid should be fast, deliberate, or easy to answer, and those don't all fit in one spec.
