The Runecloth Bag pattern debate: vendor stock, binding and why old Classic data may not settle it

A 27 October forum thread asks Blizzard to change how the vendor pattern is sold in Forever. The replies then disagree about whether it binds, and whether the recipe is even the same.

A 27 October thread on the US forums starts from a familiar memory. Its author says that in both earlier Classic versions they played, the vendor selling the Runecloth Bag pattern was permanently camped, and the pattern was resold on the Auction House at a markup for months. For Forever they suggest acting early, for example with a level requirement to enter the vendor's zone, or, as their preferred fix, making the pattern unlimited supply. Another poster agreed that limited-supply vendor recipes need attention, given how many more players Forever has. These are requests; nothing in the thread shows Blizzard adopting either.

The replies then split over two factual questions. One player said most of the patterns they had seen were bind-on-pickup, so they couldn't be sold. Another disputed that and pointed to the pattern's Classic data. The original poster answered that only two of that vendor's patterns bind on pickup and that the Runecloth Bag pattern isn't one of them. They added that the Classic listing doesn't settle the question anyway, because, they say, the Forever recipe has changed and now also needs dyes.

We haven't checked the binding, stock or recipe in Forever, and the thread doesn't settle them. Its useful point is narrower: a Classic database entry describes Classic. If the recipe has changed, as one poster reports, older assumptions about this pattern's cost and resale may not carry over.
