One beta Druid’s profession switch: crafting their own staff felt great, the reputation deliveries didn’t

A 27 October forum post describes dropping Skinning for Enchanting at level 30, then running into recipe reputation gates and delivery trips that felt worse on a PvP ruleset.

On 27 October a player who says they played a Balance Druid in the beta posted feedback on the US forums about professions. At level 30 they dropped Skinning to pick up Enchanting, and they say crafting their own staff, off-hand and idol felt great. That is the reward side of their story, and the reason they took the profession seriously.

The friction, in their account, came from how recipes are unlocked. They say higher-level recipes sit behind reputation, naming Durotar Supply and Logistics as an example, and that each tier upgrade needed the next standing. They also describe a daily limit on deliveries that stopped them stockpiling items or supply crates to hand in at once, so they kept traveling back and forth through contested zones. They add complaints about alchemy-made reagents and rare dyes from herb nodes. On a PvP ruleset, they write, those solo delivery runs carry a constant risk of being ganked, and they are now seriously considering dropping crafting for Skinning and Herbalism purely for gold.

This is one player's report from the beta. We have not confirmed the delivery limits, reputation requirements or drop rates they describe, and the post can't show how widely the experience is shared. It does show that a first character's profession choice can turn on travel and risk as much as on what you get to craft.
