The Camp Tent’s rested boost stops at a threshold; it isn’t a rested bank

Leatherworking’s Camp Tent raises rested experience by 5% of a level for anyone sitting nearby, and does nothing once you already have more than that stored. Who it helps, and why it cannot build a rested pool.

Leatherworkers get a camp feature that does nothing in combat: the Camp Tent. Blizzard’s camping guide of 21 October lists it at Leatherworking skill 20, and its entry is two sentences long. It increases Rested experience for you and others sitting nearby by 5% of a level. It has no effect if your Rested experience already exceeds that value.

A boost with a threshold

The second sentence decides who the tent is for. It helps a character whose rested experience has run low. Once you have more than 5% of a level stored, it does nothing, so it cannot keep adding to a larger rested pool.

How it fits with the rest of the camp

Like every camp benefit, you get it by sitting or crafting at the camp for at least one minute. Placing the tent counts against the cooldown all camp features share: an hour at baseline, less for a character with the Legacy perk Field Guide. Until it ends, the leatherworker who put the tent down cannot place another feature. Our camp capacity explainer covers how a group can plan around that.

The tent is not the same as the Legacy perk Well Rested, which raises your rested cap and lets rested experience build up faster. The perk changes the pool itself. The tent only helps when the pool is nearly empty.

So the tent belongs to a group that has just burned through its rested experience together, as a small bonus before the next stretch. A character who logs in with plenty stored gets nothing from it.
