The Fishing Bowl: a Kings-style buff for groups without a Paladin

At Fishing 20, the Fishing Bowl gives everyone sitting at the camp 8% increased stats, exclusive with Blessing of Kings. With Kings now baseline for every Paladin, here is when it matters.

Fishing is a secondary profession, and in Forever it can also stand in for a Paladin. Blizzard’s camping guide of 21 October lists the Fishing Bowl at Fishing skill 20. Placed at a campfire, it gives you and others sitting nearby 8% increased stats, and it is exclusive with Blessing of Kings.

Why it matters

Kings is one of the most familiar buffs in the game, and Forever makes it more common. Blizzard’s Paladin deep dive lists Blessing of Kings among the talents moved to baseline, so every Paladin can cast it.

That decides when the bowl is worth placing. In a group with a Paladin, it adds nothing that Kings does not. In a group without one, it is the only way the guide describes to get a Kings-style buff.

Cheap to qualify for

The guide confirms that Cooking, Fishing and First Aid can all be learned on one character. Fishing costs you no primary profession slot, and the bowl arrives at skill 20, early in the profession.

Before you place one

  • Stacking: it does not stack with Kings. Do not expect 8% on top of a Paladin’s blessing.
  • Duration: the guide does not say how long the buff lasts after you leave the camp.
  • Materials: it lists no recipe. The Legacy perk Reagent Economy removes materials for tier 1 camping features, but the guide does not say whether the bowl is one of them.
  • Placement: like every camp feature, it needs a campfire nearby and shares the one-hour placement cooldown with all other camp features.

A level-20 fishing skill is not much to ask for a buff most groups would otherwise need a Paladin for.
