Something to fight over, and a way to find the fight: two Forever world-PvP addons

A beta player recommends pairing Overlord Forever's player-run territory campaign with War Effort's shared enemy scouting. Overlord Forever's page draws useful lines: addon coins aren't gold, and shared layer information doesn't move you between layers.

On 28 October, u/Rektzyqq made the case on Reddit for two player-made addons they used for world PvP during the Forever beta. Their pitch is a division of labor: Overlord gives Horde and Alliance objectives to fight over, and War Effort helps you find the people to fight. The poster is candid about the limit, writing that addons alone won't create an active world-PvP community without players and guilds willing to get involved. Note that the post links the Retail version of Overlord; the Forever version is a separate project.

On its Forever project page, author Troma describes a player-run campaign across seven fronts, five guild keeps and nine outposts, with weekly rankings. Two boundaries in that description matter. Mines produce Overlord coins, which Troma calls an addon resource separate from your character's gold, spent on capture timers rather than combat bonuses. And the addon shares campaign information across layers without putting everyone in the same copy of the world, so you may still need to group with other players to join a particular fight. War Effort, by PoutineItalienne, says it merges every user's enemy sightings into live clusters on the map, with layer information, alerts and bonus points at Overlord Forever objectives.

These are the authors' own descriptions. We haven't installed either addon or tested that they work together, and none of the fronts, keeps or rankings are a Blizzard feature.
