Orc Shatter Curse now dispels instead of granting immunity

The 16 October notes turn Shatter Curse into a dispel for Curses and Banes and cut a magic damage reduction from 15% to 5%. Blizzard’s 26 October pass leaves Shatter Curse alone but removes Savage and brings back Command.

Orcs used to shrug curses off before they landed. In Forever they clear them afterwards. Blizzard’s 16 October development notes change the racial Shatter Curse so that it dispels Curses and Banes. It had granted immunity.

Blizzard’s final racial pass on 26 October does not mention Shatter Curse, so that change stands as last announced.

The other numbers in the Orc block

Directly beneath the Shatter Curse line, the 16 October notes record magic damage taken reduced by 5%, down from 15%. Read in sequence, that reduction belongs to Shatter Curse, but the notes do not give its duration or conditions. They also do not give Shatter Curse’s own cooldown.

The same build lengthened Blood Fury’s cooldown to three minutes, from two. The 26 October post does not mention Blood Fury either.

Savage is gone, and Command is back

The 16 October notes also replaced Axe Specialization with Savage, which granted 1% increased critical strike chance. That did not last. On 26 October Blizzard removed Savage and re-added Command, which increases Hunter and Warlock pet damage by 5%.

Axe Specialization does not return. Blizzard names it as an example of the weapon specialization racials it is keeping out, so that future raid and dungeon loot is not judged by required weapon types.

Dispelling versus immunity

Immunity prevents an effect from being applied for as long as it lasts. A dispel removes what is already on you, and that is all. Once Shatter Curse has done its work, the next Curse or Bane can land as normal.

So the timing changes. Shatter Curse is now something you use after a Curse or Bane arrives, not before.
