Hunters can now keep one fire trap and one ice trap down

The 16 October notes replace the one-trap limit with one active Fire Trap and one active Ice Trap. What that allows, what it does not, and what the Fire Trap Attack Power fix does and does not tell you.

Hunters can now keep two traps down. Blizzard’s 16 October development notes change the limit from one active trap of any type to one active Fire Trap and one active Ice Trap.

What that allows

One of each category at the same time. A Hunter can have a Fire Trap and an Ice Trap active together.

What it does not allow

Two traps from the same category. Two Fire Traps, or two Ice Traps, are still not possible, and there is no unlimited trap count.

The notes do not list which traps belong to which category. In the original game, Immolation and Explosive Trap were fire, and Freezing and Frost Trap were ice. Check each trap’s category in the launch client before planning a pairing.

A scaling fix for Fire Traps

The same notes say Fire Traps now correctly scale with Attack Power. They do not say how the scaling was wrong before, so the fix does not tell you whether, or by how much, a particular Hunter’s trap damage changes.

An 8 October change is also worth knowing: the Entrapment talent now only activates on Frost Trap’s initial activation, not periodically, and has diminishing returns.
