Challenging another group to a battleground: what Forever’s 15 October podcast said about War Games

The answer on Blizzard’s PvP episode said the War Games system should still function and that the aim was to have it working, but could not say whether it would be there at launch. Rewards came up as a concern, not a settled rule.

On Blizzard’s official PvP episode of The WoW: Forever Podcast, published on 15 October, a follow-up asked whether premade groups could intentionally queue into each other. The answer pointed to War Games.

What was said

The War Game system should still function, the answer said, and the aim was to have it working. As described, it would let you target a specific group and challenge it to a war game through a chat command. This answer did not give the command’s form.

On timing, the respondent did not know whether War Games would be working at launch, but believed they should follow fairly soon after. That is a belief, not a date.

The idea drew quick enthusiasm on the episode for a guild-against-guild Alterac Valley match. That was a reaction, not an announced mode or group size.

Rewards were a question, not a rule

A further question asked whether War Games could award Honor, given that friends could simply farm each other. The reply raised the prospect of widespread win trading, and the exchange moved on without stating a reward rule.

If you are planning a guild match

If War Games become available, they could suit a match arranged against a guild you know, or practice for battleground strategy. Before you put a date in the calendar, check:

  • whether War Games are available in your client;
  • how to issue a challenge;
  • which battlegrounds and group sizes are supported;
  • what, if anything, a match awards.

This account paraphrases the 15 October recording. It is not a transcript, and it does not describe the live game.
