Asked on Blizzard’s official PvP episode of The WoW: Forever Podcast, published on 15 October, what Forever’s stance is on premades, the answer set out how matching is intended to work.

The intended plan

Premade groups should be slotted against other premades. If you queue solo, you should not be put up against one. Solo players and very small groups should be matched with other solo players and small groups.

That is the plan as described on the episode, not a result observed in a queue.

How small is small?

The answer gave no reliable figure for where a small group ends. The respondent said they were not sure of the exact number or how it is currently tuned, because the PvP designers had gone back and forth looking for the right balance. Treat any group size attributed to this answer as a guess, not a queue rule.

Room to adjust

In a later reply, the respondent said the PvP designers keep discussing how to fine-tune the system, and would not say anything was off the table. The aim is to start as simply as possible. The reply recalled that matchmaking changed a couple of times during Burning Crusade Classic while it was being tuned, and expected Forever to stay flexible if adjustments make sense.

What it means for your group

If matching works as described, a small group of friends should meet solo players and other small groups rather than an organized team, and a full organized group should expect organized opposition. This answer did not say where small ends.

This account paraphrases the 15 October recording. It is not a transcript, and it does not describe the live game.
