Lava Burst moves to the 21-point slot, and Elemental Mastery returns

Elemental Shamans reach Lava Burst sooner in Forever. Blizzard’s 16 October development notes rebuilt the middle and bottom of the Elemental tree around it.

Lava Burst moves up

  • It moves from the seventh row to the fifth, as the 21-point gold medal talent.
  • It no longer has a prerequisite.
  • A new rank 4 is added, and the existing ranks are reflowed.

Earlier in the beta, ranks 1 and 2 were also buffed to about 10% more base damage than the Lightning Bolt rank learned at around the same level.

Elemental Mastery returns at 31 points

The new 31-point gold medal is Elemental Mastery, with Lava Burst as its prerequisite. Activated, it lasts 15 seconds: Lightning Bolt and Lava Burst cast 0.5 seconds faster, and Chain Lightning has no cooldown. It has a three-minute cooldown.

That gives the tree a clear shape. Lava Burst is an ability you use all the time from 21 points. Elemental Mastery is a burst window you plan around every three minutes.

Further up the tree

Earthbound moves to the fourth row as the 16-point gold medal. Elemental Alacrity moves up to the second row, Lightning Overload now requires it, and Elemental Fury now requires Lightning Overload. Call of Thunder is removed.

When you get there

Twenty-one points arrives around level 30 if talent points come one per level from level 10, as in the original game. The Talented Legacy perk can bring talent points earlier, so the level varies by character.
