If you prefer Forever’s standard-definition (SD) character models and plan to roll Skyborne, Blizzard’s timeline matters. In a 7 October news post, it said SD Skyborne player characters, SD Druid forms included, are in development and arriving in early 2027. Forever launches on 4 November.

That is an older announcement, not a new patch. In the official sources we checked for this article, up to 26 October, we found no later change to that timing.

Why Skyborne are different

Forever lets players switch player characters between SD and high-definition (HD) models. Blizzard says that when it designed the toggle, it focused on the races from original World of Warcraft, because many players are attached to those models. Skyborne, the new race, were built in HD.

Players told Blizzard that HD Skyborne can look jarring next to SD characters in an SD world, and Blizzard says it agrees. SD Skyborne are its answer. It shared an early work-in-progress image and said it would share more closer to release.

Until those models arrive, the post implies Skyborne have only their HD look. It does not describe how the SD toggle treats them in the meantime.

A separate change to the HD Druid forms

The same post shows Blizzard revisiting the HD Skyborne Druid forms. It removed some of their softness, added more detailed fur textures and adjusted color saturation. The Skyborne come from an exotic environment, Blizzard says, and their forms should reflect that without clashing with the look of other creatures in the world.

That is work on the HD forms, separate from the SD project. The post does not say when the revised HD forms reach the game, so we are not saying whether they will be in the launch build.

Early 2027 is a plan

“Early 2027” is a stated target, with no month or patch attached. Blizzard presents the post as part of keeping Forever’s visuals in line with the original game’s look, and says more will follow.
