Voice of Truth gives Holy Paladins six seconds of immunity to silences and interrupts

Blizzard’s 15 October Paladin deep dive adds Voice of Truth, an 11-point Holy talent granting immunity to Silence and Interrupt for 6 seconds on a 3-minute cooldown. Why that is not the same as a guaranteed cast.

Every healer who has been kicked mid-cast knows the feeling. Blizzard’s Paladin class deep dive, published on 15 October, gives Holy Paladins a new answer to it.

What the guide says

Voice of Truth is a new 11-point gold medal talent in the Holy tree, and it grants a new ability. That ability makes the Paladin immune to Silence and Interrupt effects for 6 seconds, on a 3-minute cooldown.

That is a short window on a long cooldown, so its value lies in timing. It belongs to the stretch of a fight when enemy casters or melee are most likely to silence or kick your heals.

What it does not cover

The guide lists Silence and Interrupt, nothing more. Nothing in it says Voice of Truth protects against stuns, fears, polymorphs or any other kind of crowd control. A heal started inside the window is protected from being silenced or kicked; it is not guaranteed to finish.

The guide also leaves open whether the ability can be activated while you are already silenced, whether enemies can dispel it, and how it interacts with effects already on you.

The same tree changes Unyielding Faith, which moves up from row 3 to row 2. It now reduces the duration of Fear and Disorient effects, instead of increasing your chance to resist them. Where Voice of Truth is a window you choose to open, Unyielding Faith works in the background. It will not stop a fear from landing, but it shortens one that does.

Between them, Holy Paladins get one tool against having their casts shut down and another against losing control of their character for long. Neither makes a Paladin uncatchable.
