Not just Alterac Valley: Forever aims to make Honor more consistent across battlegrounds
Blizzard’s PvP progression guide says it reviewed Honor gains across every battleground so players are not compelled to queue Alterac Valley for efficiency. What the guide says, and what it leaves for launch to show.

Anyone who chased a rank in Classic remembers queueing Alterac Valley whatever else was on offer. Blizzard’s guide to PvP progression in World of Warcraft: Forever, published on 7 October, addresses that habit directly.
What Blizzard says changed
In its section on Honor, the guide says the team reviewed Honor gains across battlegrounds so that acquisition rates are more consistent across the board. The stated aim is for players to enjoy the full range of battleground maps without feeling compelled to choose Alterac Valley solely for Honor efficiency.
That is the whole of the written statement. It does not say how Alterac Valley’s own rewards moved, which other battlegrounds changed or by how much, and it gives no Honor-per-match or per-hour figures. “More consistent” describes the spread between maps; it is not a promise that every battleground pays the same.
Holiday weeks
The guide adds one lever that favours whichever map is in the spotlight. Highlighted battlegrounds award increased Honor during their holiday weeks, and holiday-week battlegrounds give an additional boost to Rank Points. It puts no number on either boost and does not say a holiday battleground will always come out ahead.
What it means for a rank grind
If the review works as described, choosing a battleground because you enjoy it should no longer feel like giving up Honor efficiency, and a holiday week is the natural time to follow the highlight. Nothing in the guide says to avoid Alterac Valley either. The guide publishes no reward values and ranks no battleground as the fastest, so it cannot by itself tell you which map pays best.
Honor is also only half the picture. Your rank moves on Rank Points, a separate track the same guide describes and our explainer on honor and rank points covers.
