Forever adds nine five-player dungeons across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, covering levels 13 to 60. Blizzard named all nine in its What’s Next panel recap on 12 September. Its dungeon guide, published on 20 October, adds level ranges, locations and access notes.

Where they sit

In the Eastern Kingdoms:

  • Hall of Thanes, 13–18, beneath Ironforge in Dun Morogh
  • Ruins of Lordaeron, 15–20, in the ruined city above the Undercity
  • Excavation Site, 24–29, above Whelgar’s Excavation in the Wetlands
  • City of Dalaran, 28–33, in the Alterac Mountains
  • The Drowned City, 35–40, off the Stranglethorn coast, west of Grom’gol
  • Krol’dok Stronghold, 40–45, in the Riverglades

In Kalimdor:

  • Alcaz Prison, 48–53, on Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh
  • Blackmaw Hold, 55–60, in Azshara
  • Shaper’s Terrace, 58–60, in Un’Goro Crater’s northern hills

One detail for beta testers: the 1 October build notes listed Excavation Site as 26–31, while the 20 October guide gives 24–29.

The first two cross faction lines

The two lowest-level dungeons sit inside faction territory. Alliance players can reach Hall of Thanes easily from Ironforge, but Horde groups have to travel into Alliance territory to get there. Ruins of Lordaeron is the reverse: an easy trip for Horde from the Undercity, and a journey into Horde territory for Alliance groups.

More than one way through

Two entries in the guide describe branching layouts. In Dalaran, once a group has earned the Kirin Tor’s trust, it goes in through the sewers and picks its way into the city by one of several paths, each with its own encounters. Blackmaw Hold, a furbolg city beyond a long-sealed gate in Azshara, is described as a substantial max-level dungeon with multiple routes and bosses. The guide also hints that its deepest reaches lead farther below Azeroth.

Dalaran also requires an attunement questline. Alliance players begin with “An Alarming Request” from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. Horde players begin with “Key to the City” and “Prison Break-In” from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill.

Dungeons that use the world outside

Shaper’s Terrace ties its interior to the zone around it. Players collect power crystals across Un’Goro Crater and use them at consoles inside the terrace.

You reach the Drowned City by diving under the water to find its entrance. Once inside, according to the guide, the open-air dungeon shifts around you, with mist and rain growing into a full storm ahead of the final encounter.

Krol’dok Stronghold is a sprawling ogre fortress of workshops, camps and guarded interior passages. Alcaz Prison finally opens the island’s prison, where the Defias Brotherhood and naga are fighting each other.

Beside the old dungeons

During the beta, the new dungeons were available alongside the originals. The 1 October build added Razorfen Downs and Uldaman to a list of dungeons already open. That list included Ragefire Chasm, the Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, Gnomeregan and Scarlet Monastery, next to Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron. It records what was open in that build. It does not describe whether, or how, the original dungeons have changed.

Our dungeon guides remain drafts until they are checked against the launch client.
