At a glance

Barrow Deeps is a new maximum-level, 10-player raid in WoW: Forever. It explores the night elf barrow complex beneath Kalimdor. Preview information places one entrance in Mount Hyjal and describes three entrances across the world; exact usable entrances and the travel route still need verification.

Blizzard's roadmap announces new raids for 9 December 2026, after Forever's 4 November launch. Its Legacy System article explicitly lists eight Barrow Deeps bosses. The official 8 October Forever Podcast confirms no attunement blocks entry to the new raids. Developers hint at unrevealed steps for the full experience, without establishing a particular key, reputation gate or material bill. Leave room for discovery rather than pre-farm an assumed chain.

This is an announcement and preparation guide checked against public sources on 17 October 2026. It is not yet a tested boss walkthrough. Confirm the live calendar and final entry rules before booking a progression night.

Before you go

Prepare a level 60 group of ten with a main tank, a backup able to handle a second target, healing coverage and both melee and ranged damage. Treat that as a flexible starting roster, not a verified requirement for every encounter. No source-backed tank count, healer count, mandatory class or resistance target is established yet.

Use available level 60 dungeon upgrades, finish ordinary enchants and bring repairs, food, water, healing and mana consumables. Keep bag space for new quest and loot items. Save expensive resistance purchases until the actual damage schools and survival requirements are known.

Before raid day, agree the meeting point, pull caller, loot policy and how long the group will spend learning. Check whether everyone can reach the selected entrance. Raid size is fixed in the developer interview; bringing an eleventh player is not a confirmed flex-size option.

Coordinate camp objects with the group before travelling. Their stat benefits share categories with class buffs, so use them to fill missing coverage rather than count duplicate bonuses. Hunter pets scale from the owner's gear and do not accept player stat buffs; check the Hunter guide before spending buff resources on a pet.

Forever preparation: The developers confirm continued access to Classic consumables. Check current item tooltips and stacking rules when preparing them. Traditional world-buff use inside raids still needs policy confirmation; do not require a collection circuit or count those effects in your guaranteed raid budget.

The eight named encounters

The eight-boss count is official. The names below match the public Forever completion-achievement record checked on 17 October 2026. Their listing order does not establish a required kill order, optional-boss status, abilities or loot.

  • Chillhowl
  • Elder Tangleclaw
  • Khalith the Dreadspinner
  • Well of Sorrow
  • Amethrax
  • Del'lynar Songwood
  • Ravus and Darlissa
  • Sonya Darkhallow

Encounter tactics, phase triggers and loot are not yet established by the public evidence checked. Treat these as provisional names for planning attendance, not as a kill order or a basis for resistance purchases.

A useful first-visit plan

  1. Confirm entry and the raid save. Record the selected entrance, any real prerequisite dialogue and the lockout warning before accepting it. The reset schedule and cross-raid save rules remain unconfirmed.
  2. Scout before pulling. Clear only what the group can safely identify. Mark patrols and retreat space; do not import a skip from another version of the barrows.
  3. Assign a conservative opening. Name the boss tank, any add tank, tank healer, raid healer and interrupt caller. Keep unassigned players out of the front until the fight's attacks are understood.
  4. Record what actually happened. After a learning pull, identify ability names, target rules, damage school, interrupt or dispel type, phase triggers and the first death. Separate observed behavior from a guess based on an animation.
  5. Change the failed assignment. If adds killed healers, revise pickup responsibility; if a debuff caused the death, verify its type before calling for a specific dispel. Rebuff and restore resources before trying again.

Use this learning plan until confirmed encounter instructions are available.

Loot and progression

Blizzard has announced new tier sets alongside Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit. Its roadmap places a new legendary questline in Spring 2027; the raid, class eligibility, boss source and material chain remain unrevealed. Keep loot priorities flexible until the actual boss tables and set-token rules are published, and do not budget a guaranteed legendary drop for the December opening.

Defeating all eight bosses is one of the raid Legacy Challenges and awards a Legacy Point under Blizzard's published system. This is separate from receiving a gear drop and does not establish that partial clears grant that same completion reward.

What still needs verification

Before scheduling progression, recheck the usable entrance, final access rules, reset and save warnings, encounter route and released loot tables. Boss abilities, phases, role assignments and safe recovery routes still need public raid-testing or live evidence. Until then, allow time for learning and keep expensive gear purchases flexible.
