Character

Mage, level 60

Racial abilities aren't modelled, so race doesn't change the result.

Only items a level 60 Mage can wear are listed.

From this gear

110 Stamina, 201 Spell power, 68 Intellect, 7 Mana per 5, 21 Spirit, 33 Fire damage, 10 Hit, 14 Crit

What's modelled

These Mage spells run from start to finish: Frostbolt, Fire Blast, Fireball, Pyroblast, Blast Wave, Frost Nova.

These refuse to run, and why

  • Counterspell: Interrupting the enemy isn't modelled.
  • Arcane Intellect: Effects that raise a stat and later wear off aren't modelled.
  • Mana Shield: Absorbing damage with mana isn't modelled.
  • Mage Armor: Mana returning while you cast isn't modelled.
  • Fire Ward: Shields that absorb damage aren't modelled.
  • Frost Ward: Shields that absorb damage aren't modelled.
  • Cone of Cold: Part of what it does isn't modelled.
  • Amplify Magic: How much of its bonus applies isn't established.
  • Dampen Magic: How much of its bonus applies isn't established.
  • Frostfire Bolt: Damage in two schools at once isn't modelled.
  • Ice Barrier: Blizzard's 2 November notes changed it, and shields that absorb damage aren't modelled.
  • Arcane Wrath: Blizzard's 2 November notes changed it, and part of what it does isn't modelled.
  • Frost Blast: It has been removed from the game.

Each spell runs at one rank only: lower ranks need rules for reduced spell power that aren't established.

Model assumptions

These are model choices, not game facts. Only choices relevant to the selected setup affect a run.

  • Base strength, agility, stamina, intellect and spirit are fixed at 0 in this model; gear adds to them. You can't enter your own base attributes here.
  • The enemy's health, attacks and timing are your own numbers, not a real creature's.
  • If you and the enemy die at the same moment, you lose.
  • When the caster dies, anything it had in flight is cancelled.
  • Items are treated as having only their known effects.
  • Spells are treated as having only their known effects.
  • Spells are treated as having only their known options.
  • Mana is spent when a cast starts.
  • A cooldown starts when its cast starts.
  • A cancelled cast refunds nothing.
  • Spells land the moment a cast ends: nothing travels.
  • Mana comes back steadily, not in ticks.
  • Spirit returns no mana, which understates your mana in a long fight.
  • Base spell crit is 0%, so crit comes only from Intellect, gear and talents.
  • Damage over time can't crit.
  • A spell's per-level damage is added before its damage range applies.
  • The enemy resists nothing, in any school.
  • Refreshing an effect restarts its timer.
  • Percentage bonuses from talents multiply together.
  • Ignite's share is of the critical strike's final amount, after its crit bonus and any resistance.
  • Another critical strike adds its share to what Ignite hasn't dealt yet and restarts its timer, with no cap.
  • Ignite's ticks are even splits with no hit, crit or resist roll, and no spell power or talent bonus.
