At a glance
Forever planning status: Use this guide to plan Thorium Brotherhood progression in WoW: Forever. The rates, caps, quest steps and reward gates below are inherited Classic reference; their Forever tuning and availability remain unconfirmed. Check the actual quests and vendors before buying a full material batch. Forever's Legacy Diplomat perk and racial bonuses can change gains; use your actual displayed reputation per turn-in when converting the base figures below into a shopping list.
Inherited Classic baseline:
The Thorium Brotherhood is a neutral crafting faction. Start at Thorium Point in northwestern Searing Gorge; buy reputation recipes from Lokhtos Darkbargainer inside the Grim Guzzler in Blackrock Depths. Both factions use the same route. Most rewards matter to crafters making fire resistance armor, raid weapons or consumables.
Standing bars require 3,000 reputation from Neutral to Friendly, 6,000 from Friendly to Honored, 12,000 from Honored to Revered and 21,000 from Revered to Exalted. Numbers below exclude Human Diplomacy and other bonuses.
How to gain it at each standing
Neutral to Friendly: unlock the flux turn-ins
- At level 45 or above, take What the Flux? from Master Smith Burninate at Thorium Point. Inside the Slag Pit, find Overseer Maltorius's guarded balcony and loot the Secret Plans: Fiery Flux object behind him. Arrange a safe approach or group for the elite guards rather than farm ordinary Dark Iron enemies for a random plans drop. Return the plans to Burninate to unlock his repeatables.
- Farm Incendosaur Scales from Incendosaurs in the Slag Pit. Buy Coal from a trade supplies vendor.
- Choose one Restoring Fiery Flux Supplies recipe per turn-in: 2 Incendosaur Scales and 1 Coal, plus either 4 Iron Bars, 4 Kingsblood or 10 Heavy Leather. Each turn-in gives 25 reputation until Friendly. Compare the price of the complete bundle, not one ingredient.
From exactly 0/3,000 Neutral, 120 turn-ins cost 240 scales, 120 Coal, and either 480 Iron Bars, 480 Kingsblood or 1,200 Heavy Leather. What the Flux? and any other reputation already earned reduce that bill. Do not buy all three alternative materials.
Friendly to Honored: use Dark Iron Residue
Burninate now offers Gaining Acceptance: turn in 4 Dark Iron Residue for 25 reputation. It stops at Honored. Starting at exactly 0/6,000 Friendly takes 240 turn-ins and 960 residue. Residue drops in Blackrock Depths and is usually far cheaper than spending Molten Core materials at this stage.
Honored to Exalted: visit Lokhtos
At character level 60, go to Lokhtos in the Grim Guzzler with a dungeon group. His material repeatables require that level even if you reached Honored earlier. Do not make the bar hostile before speaking to him. His Favor Amongst the Brotherhood repeatables remain useful through Revered to Exalted:
| One turn-in | Base reputation | Materials for 33,000 reputation from Honored to Exalted |
|---|---|---|
| 10 Dark Iron Ore | 50 | 6,600 ore |
| 2 Core Leather | 150 | 440 leather |
| 1 Fiery Core | 200 | 165 cores |
| 1 Lava Core | 200 | 165 cores |
| 1 Blood of the Mountain | 200 | 165 Blood of the Mountain |
These are alternatives. Mix them according to price and guild supply. Divide the cost of one bundle by its reputation to compare them. Normal Blackrock Depths and Molten Core kills do not themselves replace these turn-ins.
Save unrestricted one-time reputation quests for after Honored when practical. Blacksmiths can use the Imperial Plate quests from Derotain Mudsipper in Gadgetzan, but price the Thorium Bar cost first. For A Binding Contract, bring a Sulfuron Ingot in your bags at level 60, ask Lokhtos for the contract and read it to start the quest. Hand it and the Ingot back for the Sulfuron Hammer plans. This is a separate quest, with no Exalted requirement. The plans are tradeable and teach any Blacksmith with skill 300; no weapon specialization is needed. Budget 1 Ingot for the recipe plus 8 more for the craft if obtaining both yourself, and do not spend an Ingot solely for the quest's 200 reputation.
Rewards by standing
Lokhtos sells the following useful recipes; check the required profession and specialization before buying.
| Standing | Recipes worth checking |
|---|---|
| Friendly | Transmute: Elemental Fire; Corehound Boots; Molten Helm; Flarecore Gloves; Dark Iron Bracers; Enchant Weapon: Strength |
| Honored | Dark Iron Helm, Dark Iron Reaver, Dark Iron Destroyer, Fiery Chain Girdle; Flarecore Robe and Mantle; Lava Belt; Black Dragonscale Boots; Enchant Weapon: Mighty Spirit |
| Revered | Dark Iron Gauntlets and Leggings; Black Amnesty; Blackfury; Corehound Belt; Molten Belt; Chromatic Gauntlets; Flarecore Leggings; Fiery Chain Shoulders; Enchant Weapon: Mighty Intellect |
| Exalted | Nightfall, Ebon Hand, Blackguard and Dark Iron Boots |
Most plans bind when purchased, so the intended crafter needs the standing. Check these specialization gates before funding the grind:
| Specialization | Relevant recipes above |
|---|---|
| Armorsmith | Dark Iron armor pieces, Fiery Chain Girdle and Shoulders |
| Weaponsmith | Black Amnesty and Blackfury |
| Master Axesmith | Dark Iron Destroyer and Nightfall |
| Master Swordsmith | Dark Iron Reaver and Blackguard |
| Master Hammersmith | Ebon Hand |
| Tribal Leatherworking | Corehound Boots and Belt |
| Elemental Leatherworking | Molten Helm and Belt |
| Dragonscale Leatherworking | Black Dragonscale Boots and Chromatic Gauntlets |
Lava Belt needs Leatherworking 300 without a specialization. Corehound Boots, Dark Iron Bracers and Fiery Chain Girdle need skill 295; most other crafts listed need 300, while Enchant Weapon: Strength needs 290. Smelting Dark Iron and using the Black Forge or Black Anvil are separate Blackrock Depths requirements. Keep the finished craft's materials separate from the stock being spent on reputation.
Tips
- Set a target recipe first. A crafter who only needs a Friendly pattern can stop before the expensive raid-material stage.
- Bring the whole planned turn-in batch to Lokhtos. He is inside a dungeon, not a convenient outdoor quartermaster.
- Keep crafting stock separate from reputation stock. Turning in the cores needed for the finished armor can leave you unable to make it.
- If Gaining Acceptance disappears, check your standing. It is capped at Honored; farming more residue will not finish Revered.
