Preparation

At a glance

WoW: Forever, five players: one tank, one healer and three damage dealers. Location and entrance: the Cleft of Shadow in Orgrimmar, beside Neeru Fireblade's tent. Plan a first clear around 15-16 within the broad 15-25 guide band. Current Forever dungeon references list minimum entry at 10; that is earlier than a comfortable full clear. Allow 30-60 minutes for the run and quests.

Horde has easy city access and all the listed quests. Alliance can physically enter, but reaching the portal through Orgrimmar's hostile guards is a serious low-level travel problem, without the Horde quest rewards.

Current Forever sources retain the four-boss route and faction quest chains, and list new loot for Oggleflint and Bazzalan. The tactics use inherited Classic mechanics where Forever changes are unconfirmed. This guide is checked against public sources, not tested in game.

Quests to pick up first

The listed quest chains begin at level 9, earlier than a safe full clear. Pick them up while visiting the capitals, then check the exact stage in each player's Forever quest log.

  • Hidden Enemies, Thrall in Orgrimmar's Valley of Wisdom: complete the Skull Rock insignia investigation and the conversations involving Neeru Fireblade first. You need the stage that explicitly asks you to kill Bazzalan and Jergosh the Invoker. Taking Thrall's initial quest is not enough.
  • Slaying the Beast, Neeru Fireblade beside the entrance: kill Taragaman the Hungerer and loot his heart.
  • Testing an Enemy's Strength, Rahauro on Thunder Bluff's Elder Rise: kill 8 Ragefire Troggs and 8 Ragefire Shamans. Count these before leaving the opening trogg area.
  • Searching for the Lost Satchel, also Rahauro: find Maur Grimtotem's corpse near Oggleflint. Turn the quest in at the corpse and accept Returning the Lost Satchel there, then take the satchel back to Rahauro after the run.
  • The Power to Destroy..., Varimathras in Undercity's royal chamber: loot Incantations from the Nether and Spells of Shadow from the Searing Blade cultists in the later half. Keep looting until every quest holder has both books.

The run

Keep away from lava edges and pull each caster pack back to cleared ground. There is no key, attunement or requirement to have the quests before entering.

  1. Opening trogg rooms: kill the troggs and shamans needed for Testing an Enemy's Strength. Interrupt the shamans where possible and use a corner to bring them to the tank. Check everyone's count before taking the demon route.
  2. Oggleflint, optional for a boss-only clear: take the trogg branch and clear his guards. Face his Cleave away from the party. After the kill, search the nearby dead-end branch for Maur Grimtotem, then accept the satchel follow-up before returning to the main path.
  3. Taragaman the Hungerer: clear the patrols around the central lava platform. The tank stands with room behind them so Uppercut cannot send them into lava; ranged and the healer stay back from Fire Nova. Loot the heart before crossing onward.
  4. Jergosh the Invoker: clear the approach and control one of his companions if possible. Kill the uncontrolled add first, then Jergosh. Remove or heal through Immolate, and remove Curse of Weakness if the party has a curse remover.
  5. Bazzalan: continue up the ramp from the final room. Pull his companions carefully and kill or control them before the boss. Cure Deadly Poison if available. Make sure everyone on Hidden Enemies is present for both final boss kills.

There is little benefit in threading between live packs on the narrow bridges. Clear a safe route for the whole group, including pets. Oggleflint's branch can be omitted only if nobody needs the satchel, trogg kills or his loot.

Loot worth staying for

Use current Forever item stats when choosing upgrades. Current loot references include:

  • Taragaman: Cursed Felblade, Subterranean Cape and Crystalline Cuffs.
  • Jergosh: Robe of Evocation, Chanting Blade and Cavedweller Bracers.
  • Oggleflint, Forever additions: Trogg Scepter, Barbaric Crossbow and Bone Knuckles.
  • Bazzalan, Forever additions: Satyrskin Cloak, Searing Dagger and Chasm Walkers.

Quest turn-ins add experience and early equipment choices. Compare rewards to what you actually wear; they are not a reason to skip a needed dungeon upgrade.

Tips

  • Assign interrupts or crowd control for caster packs, and give the tank time to gather each group before using area damage.
  • Finish all opening trogg objectives before leaving that area, and both cultist books before heading back to town.
  • Repairs and vendors are in Orgrimmar outside the instance. Returning to them still means leaving the dungeon and walking back; use a drink break before a boss instead of letting the healer run dry.
  • After the run, turn in Slaying the Beast and Hidden Enemies in Orgrimmar, then visit Thunder Bluff and Undercity for their rewards. Hidden Enemies continues with more conversations after the two kills.
