Preparation

At a glance

WoW: Forever, five players. Location: the Valley of Spears in western Desolace. The inherited approach enters the stone gate around 38, 57 and follows the outer caverns to the crystal-coloured routes. Orange and Purple are outer sections of the same dungeon; Earth Song Falls is the inner section. Plan a full quest clear separately from a Princess farm.

Aim around 47-49 for the outer wings and 49-52 for a first Princess clear. The listed 46-55 band is broader than the level range of a comfortable full group. Allow at least 90 minutes for both outer wings and the scepter quest, with more time for every inner boss. Bind nearby or arrange a portal for the exit after the deep section.

This is provisional planning for Forever's higher-level Maraudon. The detailed quests, scepter route and boss mechanics use Classic evidence; current Forever access, quest requirements and rewards still need confirmation. Verification is from public sources, not an in-game clear.

Quests to pick up first

  • Shadowshard Fragments, both factions: Alliance gets it from Archmage Tervosh in Theramore; Horde from Uthel'nay in Orgrimmar. The fragments come from Shadowshard elementals in the outer caverns before the instance, so do that collection before committing to a portal.
  • Twisted Evils, both factions: Willow at Kormek's Hut in Desolace wants 25 Theradric Crystal Carvings from eligible enemies. Accept before entering and check counts before leaving the outer wings.
  • Vyletongue Corruption, both factions: Talendria at Nijel's Point for Alliance or Vark Battlescar at Shadowprey Village for Horde supplies a Cerulean Vial. Fill it at the orange-side pool in the outer caverns, then use the filled vial on 8 Vylestem Vines inside and kill the spawned Noxxious Scions to heal each plant. Check the objective counter; killing ordinary plants does not substitute for using the vial.
  • Corruption of Earth and Seed: Keeper Marandis at Nijel's Point or Selendra at Shadowprey Village wants Princess Theradras dead. Accept before the run. After killing her, speak to the spirit of Zaetar for Seed of Life, which continues to Moonglade.
  • Legends of Maraudon, both factions: Cavindra in the outer orange-crystal caves asks for the Celebrian Rod from Noxxion and Celebrian Diamond from Lord Vyletongue. You need both before talking to Celebras the Redeemed after his boss fight.
  • The Pariah's Instructions, both factions: the Centaur Pariah patrols between the Gelkis area and Mannoroc Coven in southern Desolace. His Amulet of Spirits lets you fight five centaur khans, three outside and two inside, for five gems. Combine them with the amulet to form the Amulet of Union and return to him for Mark of the Chosen.

The five khans

Use the Amulet of Spirits on each non-hostile spirit before fighting it. Kolk is by the central outer passage, Gelk on the purple outer route and Magra on the orange outer route. Maraudos is inside Purple and Veng inside Orange. Collect all five gems before combining them. Do the three outer khans before entering so the party does not need to leave halfway through.

The run

A first clear for the scepter

Start Orange for Noxxion, the plants and Veng's khan gem. After those objectives and any Razorlash detour, backtrack through the cleared Orange entrance and zone out. Return to the outer-cave crystal junction, take the Purple passage and its portal, then clear toward Vyletongue. Keep the same instance and do not reset it between wings. Finish both outer sections before descending the falls toward the inner dungeon.

Creeping Sludge packs punish several players standing in melee: their repeated Poison Shock hits nearby targets with Nature damage. Clear room first, use ranged damage while moving back over cleared ground, and keep melee and pets away from overlapping pulses. Do not drag the slow sludges into the next live pack or expect a poison cure to prevent each new burst.

  1. Noxxion, Orange: clear nearby slimes and start with healer mana. Toxic Volley hits the party and leaves a damaging poison; cure the lingering effect if available while healing the initial burst. He splits into smaller spawns; the tank gathers them and damage dealers use controlled area damage or a shared focus target to kill the wave. Re-establish the main boss when he reforms. Loot the Celebrian Rod.
  2. Razorlash, optional Orange detour: keep him facing away from the party and heal the tank through his bleed. Finish corrupted-plant and inner-orange khan objectives before leaving this wing.
  3. Lord Vyletongue, Purple: clear the satyrs on the approach, including stealthed guards. Control a demon with Banish if available, otherwise kill the guards while the tank holds Vyletongue. Follow his teleports without breaking healer line of sight. Loot the Celebrian Diamond and finish the purple khan before descending.
  4. Meshlok the Harvester, optional rare: check the outer falls route only if the group wants the detour. He is not guaranteed and is not required for the scepter.
  5. Celebras the Cursed, at the convergence: interrupt his summons and Twisted Tranquility, a damaging channel that slows movement and attacks, while the tank gathers the treants. Focus Celebras and clean up controlled adds, switching sooner if they threaten the healer.
  6. Celebras the Redeemed: wait for the friendly spirit after the kill. With both quest pieces, turn in Legends of Maraudon, accept The Scepter of Celebras, follow his ritual and finish the dialogue/turn-in. Do not leave merely because the hostile Celebras is dead.

On later runs, use the completed scepter at the portal pedestal in the central outer chamber behind the first khan. It creates access to Earth Song Falls for the party. It is not a permanent key that opens a central gate from anywhere, and a player who has not completed the scepter can use a group member's portal.

Earth Song Falls and the inner bosses

From Celebras, continue through the falls into the inner cavern. A scepter portal places the group in this inner area. Clear hydra patrols before moving into the rock tunnels; their knockbacks can throw players into another pack. Keep casters away from the close-range silence of the Subterranean Diemetradons.

  1. Tinkerer Gizlock, optional side tunnel: take his lower-cavern detour before continuing to the Princess route, rather than treating him as a required Purple boss. Face his Goblin Dragon Gun away from the group, keep ranged back and leave room to move out of bombs.
  2. Landslide, optional upper branch: clear the giant approach and tank with a safe wall behind you for knockback. Keep the healer outside War Stomp range where possible. Gather his summoned elementals and kill them first if they threaten the healer or overwhelm the tank.
  3. Princess Theradras, main destination: clear the nearby giants and patrols, then recover fully. Melee step away during Dust Field, the repeated damaging knockback. Keep the tank's back toward safe ground and leave room for fear without bringing uncleared enemies. Ranged and the healer maintain line of sight while the boss moves. Fear Ward, Tremor Totem or an appropriate personal fear break can help. In Classic, she can store Thrash attacks while kited and unleash them together when she catches her target; avoid a prolonged tank kite and prepare a defensive if she reconnects.
  4. Rotgrip, optional water below the Princess area: gather the party before dropping down and check the water for the patrolling crocolisk. Keep breath and healer line of sight. Heal through his heavy melee and bleed damage; Fatal Bite also drains health to heal him. Save a tank defensive for a burst and keep damage steady. Loot, then use your planned hearthstone or portal to leave.

Loot worth staying for

Inherited targets to check against the current Forever item and boss table before farming:

  • Noxxion: Noxious Shooter, plus the rod for the scepter quest.
  • Lord Vyletongue: Satyrmane Sash, plus the diamond.
  • Celebras: Grovekeeper's Drape and Soothsayer's Headdress.
  • Gizlock: Inventor's Focal Sword, Megashot Rifle and Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler.
  • Landslide: Fist of Stone and Helm of the Mountain.
  • Princess Theradras: Blackstone Ring, Bracers of the Stone Princess, Charstone Dirk and Princess Theradras' Scepter. The weapon is separate from the quest's Scepter of Celebras.
  • Rotgrip: Rotgrip Mantle and Gatorbite Axe.
  • The Pariah's Instructions: Mark of the Chosen after the five-khan collection.

Tips

  • Call the run type when recruiting: Orange, Purple, scepter quest, or Princess plus selected inner bosses. They need different time commitments and start points.
  • Check both scepter pieces before dropping past Celebras. Killing only one outer boss does not create the shortcut.
  • Dismiss pets before dropping down the falls and regroup at the landing before pulling. A pet taking the long route can bring uncleared enemies.
  • Bring the vial, amulet and bag space for quest drops. Neither the Princess weapon nor a random portal replaces a missing quest tool.
